Interesting fact: Threshold Music & DVD store in Cobham is owned by The Moody Blues, a world famous group. Best known in the UK for their number 1 singles 'Nights In white Satin', 'Go Now' and 'Question', the  Moody Blues were a highly respected 'supergroup' in the 60's and 70's performing 'progressive rock'. Music was aimed more at the album buying public than the singles market, with tracks being longer than the radio stations would be willing to play and tracks merged into each other on 'concept albums'. The Moody Blues were one of the first groups to form their own Music label in the late 60s- Threshold Records. Cobham was the HQ of their record label as well as a record shop.
The Moody Blues still perform together, with John Lodge, Justin Hayward and Graeme Edge as the line up (all from the 60's line up).

X-Factor & Other Talent Shows
Recent years have seen the Christmas Number 1 Single heavily influenced by Pop Music talent Shows Such as Pop Idol, Pop Stars - The Rivals and The X Factor, which run in the months leading up to Christmas, with the winners of the shows launching their first single targetted at the lucrative Christmas market, with Christmas Gifts in mind.
Interesting facts:
The Spice Girls achieved 3 Christmas number 1 singles in a row, between 1996 to 1998 with "2 Become 1", "Too Much" and "Goodbye".
This matches the 3 Christnmas number 1 singles in a row by the Beatles in 1963-1965 with "I Want to Hold Your Hand", "I Feel Fine" and "Day Tripper" / "We Can Work It Out"
Paul McCartney has had 6 number 1 Christmas Singles: 4 of these with the Beatles plus one with his band Wings in 1977. He was also involved in the first Band Aid Single.
Band Aid has been number 1 at Christmas with 3 versions of the famous Single "Do They Know It's Christmas?".
The original record was released on November 29, 1984, and went straight to No. 1 in the UK singles chart. It sold more than all the other records in the chart put together. It became the fastest- selling single of all time in the UK, selling a million copies in the first week alone. It stayed at No. 1 for five weeks, selling over three million copies and becoming easily the biggest-selling single of all time in the UK. (source Wikipedia)
A new version was released by the Pop Groups and Solo Artists popular in 1989 (Band Aid II). Then in 2004 it was Number 1 in the Chart again. Band Aid 20 was the name of the supergroup this year, sionce it was 20 years on from the original release in 1994.
The Song "Mary's Boy Child" has been Christmas number 1 twice - Harry Belafonte charted with the oriiginal in 1957 and this was followed in 1976 by Johnny Mathis.
The same record has also been number 1 by the same artist; Queen had their first number 1 with "Bohemian Rhapsody" in 1975. Freddy Mercury (singer of Queen) died in Nov 1991 and as a tribute "Bohemian Rhapsody" was released again (with "These Are the Days of Our Lives") and became the Christmas Number 1 again later that year.
Somethin' Stupid was originally released in 1967 by Frank Sinatra & daughter Nancy Sinatra. Their version spent four weeks at #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and when included in Music Quizes, many people get the answer wrong when they hear the Robbie Williams & Nicole Kidman version, thinking it is Frank & Nancy Sinatra.
